Betamethasone + Clortimazole
Clotrimazole-Betamethasone Cream is a combination medication composed of betamethasone and clotrimazole. It is mostly prescribed for people suffering from fungal infections such as ringworm, jock itch, and athlete’s foot. Some signs of a fungal infection include redness, blisters, dryness, itchiness and scaly skin. Generally, fungi do not possess any harm to humans but some species are pathogenic and cause such ailments. The fungus affects an organ and might spread to other body parts as well.
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid and possesses anti-inflammatory properties which reduce inflammation and redness whereas Clotrimazole is an anti-fungal substance that hampers the growth and movement of fungi. Together both these medicines treat fungal infections.
This medication must be applied to washed and dried skin. Properly wash the affected skin. Take a pea-sized amount of this cream and apply it as a thin layer to facilitate absorption. With proper application of medication, most fungal infection takes up to 2-4 weeks.
Inform your doctor if your symptoms do not start clearing within a week of treatment. The doctor may increase your dosage with reference to your explanation of symptoms. This medication is only for external use. Donot apply it on mouth, nose or in genitals. In case of accidental contact with any of these organs, promptly wash with water. Keep on using this medicine even if symptoms start clearing as stoppage of this medicine can cause the fungi to reestablish in the body and cause worse symptoms. Donor wrap the infected area with anything until the doctor says so. This may cause the fungi to spread to other surrounding tissues also.
