Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid ointment is used in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a chronic skin condition also known as dermatitis, it is associated with red, itchy, and often irritated patches of skin. The ointment is composed of clobetasol and salicylic acid. Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (that softens, separates, and causes peeling of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). Store the ointment in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

Use the Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid ointment as prescribed by your doctor. Do not apply the medication on open wounds, blisters, and lesions. It is advised to not cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage unless suggested by your doctor. Some people may observe a few side effects such as itching, dryness, and a burning sensation at the application site. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Clobetasol or Salicylic Acid.

Directions for Use

Carefully read the label given with the medication. Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid ointment is for topical (for skin use) only.  Wash your hands before and after using the ointment. Apply a thin layer with clean and dry hands on the skin’s affected areas. You can also use a piece of clean cotton wool or a gauze swab to apply the ointment. Gently rub the medicine into the skin.

Drug Warning 

Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid Ointment is not suitable for people suffering from blood circulation problems, active skin infections, and chickenpox. Avoid applying the ointment on sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds.

In case you are using the ointment on your nipples or breast do not forget to wash it off when breastfeeding your baby. Do not store the Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid Ointment above 25°C.

Safety Precautions 

1. Do not use the Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid Ointment if you are pregnant as the topical usage of corticosteroids (Clobetasol propionate) during pregnancy may affect the developing baby.

2. Consult your doctor before using the Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid Ointment if you are breastfeeding your baby.

3. Store the Clobetasol+Salicylic Acid Ointment in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
